It helps more for movies than TV shows, if you're already using the correct standard (s00e00). Plex ignores anything you put in straight brackets. Oh, and if you're going to put anything extra in the filename (like 720p), it's good practice to put that in brackets, like. Of course now in settings I get the "Upgrade Libraries" nag but that's ok for now. I'm curious if anyone else switched back to the old scanner or have any tips using the new scanner. Needless to say, I switched the Scanner back to Plex Series Scanner -> Agent: TheTVDb A few that I recall was the show Bong Appetite it would stop pulling from TheTVDB halfway through season 3, Animaniacs newest season, and just random other ones. After I let it do it's thing I was shocked with how many it missed even if I manually tried to fix them (either by putting the TheTVDB number in the search, or putting it in the file name as well). Mind you I have my naming convention as follows (TV Shows/Agent Elvis (2023)/Season 1/Agent Elvis - S01E01 - Full Tilt 720p.mkv). So a bunch but not a crazy amount.Īnyways I configured the (new but not really new) Plex TV Series scanner to do it's thing. Currently I only have 400 different shows with a total of 9400+ episodes. The TV series/episodes were completely different. When I added and scanned the movies everything was fine. Last week I upgraded my Plex server and wanted to start fresh and not migrate everything.
